By the Numbers: The Top Electric Vehicle Manufacturers in 2020
In 2020, 58% of all the plug-in car sales were by the top 10 electric vehicle manufacturers in the world, down from 63% in 2019.
In 2020, plug-in vehicles accounted for more than 3.1 million of new vehicles sold. This is up from the 2.2 million sold the previous year.
Germany had the largest jump over the past year with Mercedes, Audi, and Porsche all entering the top 20 manufacturers. This might showcase the upcoming surge in European electric vehicle production as many fleets convert to electric.
Unsurprisingly, the Tesla Model 3 remains the top-selling EV, but its share of the market dropped 3% from last year down to 11%. The previously unranked Wuling HongGuang Mini EV is now the second most-sold EV worldwide.
