In 2021, 55% of all the plug-in car sales were by the top 10 manufacturers in the world, down from 58% in 2020.

Globally, over 6.5 million new plug-in vehicles were sold in 2021, up from the 3.1 million sold the previous year.

While Tesla maintained its lead in EV manufacturing, other companies are starting to compete. Tesla’s market share dropped from 16% in 2020, down to 14% last year.
